I love the traditional dances at wedding receptions. The song choices make me wonder why the couple chose that song. Was it “their song,” or was it the song their parents or grandparents danced to? Is it a classic love song by a late great or one remade by one of today’s stars? I like the mystery, so I don’t follow up and ask, but as the 2016 wedding season gets underway, I got to wondering what the popular songs will be this year. Naturally, I asked one of my favorite wedding DJ’s, DJ Armin, what he thought. He and I came up with the following list of songs that we think will be played by smitten newlyweds everywhere.

I Get To Love You by Ruell
Latch by Sam Smith (acoustic version)
You and You Alone by Martina McBride
The Best of Me by Josh Kelley
Better Place by Rachel Platten
Under the Stars by John Legend
One Call Away by Charlie Puth
Thinking Out Loud by Ed Sheeran
XO by John Mayer (Beyonce recently recorded this as well)
Like I’m Gonna Lose You by Meghan Trainor & John Legend

And, of course, no post would be complete without photos. Isn’t this couple adorable during their first dance?

Remember when Michelle Tanner was the most adorable child actress on television? I would watch Full House with my younger sister and laugh every time she quipped, “You got it, Dude!” I could hardly believe it when I found out the role of Michelle was played by twins, and despite looking exactly alike, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen are fraternal twins. What does all this twin talk have to do with Fancy Fig Photography? Recently, I was able to spend the afternoon with the current-day dynamic duo — identical twins, Max & Leo! They are well-behaved, funny, smart, kind, and downright gorgeous! And just like the show Full House, these two are based in the San Francisco Bay Area! It was honor and pleasure photographing the two of them to update their acting & modeling headshots and we even got a few editorial shots to add to their portfolio. As you can tell in the following portraits, these two were so much fun to work with. The two are available for film, commercial, and print. They have their work permits and are represented by Boom! Models & Talent. If you are a model or actor and are looking to update your photos, or if you are an agency looking for a photographer to update your clients’ images, please email me at or use the CONTACT link above. I look forward to working with you soon!

I love the idea for this blog and LOVE the way you captured two subjects who might look alike but have their own individual personalities and spirits. You managed to do a great job showing off each as individuals but capturing the similarities they have too. Really great job!ReplyCancel

This beautiful couple traveled from their home in Washington, D.C. to get married in San Rafael’s stunning St. Vincent’s Church. Run Away With Me, a wedding planning company that specializes in elopements, organized this classic event. Black and gold accents stood out next to the gentle blush-colored bridesmaids dresses, and the groomsmen’s black and white bow-ties looked quite dapper next to the ranunculus boutonnieres.

After a traditional Catholic mass wedding ceremony, guests found their way to their tables by finding their name on a campaign button which also had the name of a world leader. The tables were named after those world leaders — how clever is that?!?!  And would you look at that wedding cake? SIX SEVEN (I had to go back and count them!) tiers of delicious cake covered in handmade and hand painted fondant rope! I wish I could refer every bride to this baker, but it was made by the bride’s cousin who gifted the cake to them.

The couple’s first dance was equally beautiful. The day was perfect in every single way, and I wish the lovely couple a lifetime of perfect happiness.
